Glenn Lightford (Band Leader): The Don’t Tell Mama Band is an 11‑piece, high‑energy party and variety band based right here in Dallas–Fort Worth. We’ve been performing for 20 years, and our mission has always been simple: create unforgettable nights filled with great music, great energy, and a whole lot of joy. We cover everything—from 70s funk and disco to today’s Top 40, plus R&B, classic rock, country, Latin, and jazz. If it gets people dancing, we play it.
Interviewer: What kind of audiences do you serve best?
Glenn: We’re built for big moments. Corporate events, city festivals, weddings, milestone celebrations—anywhere people want a full-production show with powerhouse vocals, a live horn section, and a band that knows how to read a room. Our fan base is incredibly diverse, from young adults to folks who grew up on the classics. We love being the band that brings all those generations together on the same dance floor.
Interviewer: Twenty years is a long time. What’s the secret behind your longevity?
Glenn: Chemistry. Commitment. And community. Our musicians aren’t just talented, they are family. Every musician brings something unique. And our fans? They’ve been with us since 2006. They show up, they sing, they dance, and they make every night feel like a celebration.
Interviewer: What makes your approach different from other bands in North Texas?
Glenn: We don’t just play songs—we create an experience. Our shows are fully arranged and produced with the same care you’d expect from a touring act. We’re known for our tight harmonies, our horn section, and our ability to shift genres seamlessly. But more than anything, we bring heart. We show up early, we prepare, we collaborate with clients, and we treat every event like it’s the most important one of the year. Because for someone, it is.

Glenn: It’s a celebration of every stage we’ve stood on, every musician who’s been part of this journey, and every fan who’s danced with us. Some venues don’t realize what they’re missing—a band with a loyal following, a joyful culture, and a sound that fills the room. This tour is our way of saying: We’re still here, still strong, and still bringing the party.
